The GMC Terrain has climbed the ladder to become one of the best-selling luxury crossovers around. The original model launched in 2009, and now the manufacturer has unveiled the next generation. The 2018 GMC Terrain was ready to jump into action at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The biggest news comes in the form of what lies beneath the Terrain’s hood. Drivers will have three engine options for the 2018 model year.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque to start things off. Drivers can upgrade to the 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine that pumps out 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Finally, a 1.6-liter turbocharged diesel four cylinder engine rocks out with 137 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque.
The gas engines come mated to a new nine-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Drivers have their choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The all-wheel drive system comes with a front-wheel drive mode that disables power to the rear wheels for increased efficiency.
The overall look of the 2018 GMC Terrain has been refined with premium materials, like an aluminum trim and soft-touch surfaces. All models come with a standard touchscreen, built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
We here at Bush Auto Place can’t wait to see the new GMC Terrain up close and in person on our lot come 2018!
