After the Buick Avenir concept gained attention and acclaim from the press at 2016 auto shows, the brand was pressed to follow the Avenir’s success with an equally exciting concept. This January, during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Buick unveiled the follow-up to the Avenir, a futuristic two-door coupe called the Buick Avista. While there’s no word yet on whether the Avista concept will gain a production version, the design has already won an EyesOn Design Award for best future concept.
EyesOn Design awards are given out in honor of vehicle concepts and production models that debut at the annual Detroit auto show. This is the second year in a row that Buick had taken home the award, with the previous Avenir concept winning the award at last year’s show. The vice president of Buick’s global sales, Duncan Aldred, calls the new Buick Avista a “modern expression of the brand’s heritage of sophisticated performance, communicated with beautiful elegance.”
The Avista certainly delivers on the performance front, sporting a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that cranks out 400 HP. The aerodynamic design incorporates the same fluid lines and design language that made the Avenir and 2017 LaCrosse such smash-hits with motor enthusiasts. It’s that kind of dedication to excellence that earned the Buick Avista concept the EyesOn Design award. Take a look all the award-winning Buick Models at Bush Auto Place in Dayton, OH.
