Wagons haven’t really been in vogue in the United States since the 1980s when SUVs began to take over, but maybe that’s just because the right kind of wagon hasn’t come around yet. A new Buick offering based on the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer may change that.
According to AutoGuide, the automaker has filed two trademarks with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for what it described as “motor land vehicles, namely automobiles.” That in itself isn’t suspicious, but the names it trademarked with that description are: “Tourx” and “Regal Tourx.” The former is often associated with wagons and the addition of “x” to the latter generally represents all-wheel-drive.
We’ve been expecting a new Buick wagon at Bush Auto Place in Dayton, OH ever since the Regal went on sale, the Opel Insignia’s American cousin. We’ll keep our eyes out for an announcement (or more clues) and let you know whether to start up your hype engines.
